2020 Yabby Lake Single Vineyard Cuvée Nina
Robert and Mem Kirby established the Yabby Lake Vineyard in 1998. This Single Vineyard Cuvée is named after their daughter Nina.
2020 will be remembered for many things other than the unique wine growing season it produced. The wines are super fine and made in tiny quantities.
The 2020 Cuvée Nina is made by the traditional method, spending four years on lees. A wine of great delicacy and finesse. Winemaker: Tom Carson
Winemaker Notes
Hand picked on 22 February from Block 4. This block's soil profile is sandy clay loam with iron shot stone and light medium clay. This wine is made following the Traditional Method. Whole bunch pressed, only the cuvée used (512.5L/t). Primary fermentation in stainless steel before bottling, followed by secondary fermentation in bottle with four years on lees.
Assemblage: 43% 2020 pinot noir, 44% 2020 chardonnay, 13% reserve wine (2019 vintage – 6% chardonnay, 7% pinot noir).
Tasting Notes
From the 2020 vintage, this is a wine of great delicacy and finesse. A fine, dry aperitif style, the extended time on lees imparts wonderful complexity and texture. Pure, with incredible line and length, the wine has a poised, lingering finish.
