The fruit was handpicked on 5 March. Crushed and pressed, and transferred with full solids, into tight grain 500L French oak puncheons (20% new). Natural yeasts, The fermentation commenced naturally after 8 days and was completed in 23 days. The wine was matured without malolactic fermentation proceeding, aged on lees for 11 months before bottling in February 2018. No additions except so2.
The Block 6 Chardonnay is strikingly aromatic and precisely structured, with a lingering intensity rarely experienced. An exotic array of white nectarine, citrus blossom, grapefruit pith, almond meal and flint aromas. The palate is deeply concentrated with a precise mineral intensity.
