The site, the fruit

Heathcote Estate Grenache Noir is a single vineyard wine. This Heathcote grenache noir is medium-bodied with raspberry, blackberry and cherry characters and hints of earthiness.

The Craft

The grapes were fermented in open top fermenters with 12 days on skins. The wines where then pressed and transferred immediately into barrel for malolactic fermentation. It remained in barrel for a total of 11 months (100% French oak) and during maturation was racked just once. The resulting wine was bottled in late February 2009.

The Result

This medium bodied Grenache Noir has aromas of raspberry, blackberry and cherries with hints of earthiness. These flavours continue on the palate. The wine is medium bodied and rich with fine tannins and a lingering finish. This unique Heathcote Grenache Noir should age well for up to 10 years under ideal cellaring conditions.
