2010 Yabby Lake Single Vineyard Chardonnay

The site, the fruit
This chardonnay is a blend of P58 clone and Mendoza clone, hand selected from three vineyard blocks on the property. This wine reflects our philosophy at Yabby Lake - to craft wines that reflect the spirit of the season and vineyard.
The Craft
The fruit was handpicked, with each block handled separately in the winery to ensure each parcel could reach its potential. The fruit was whole bunch pressed into tight grain French oak barriques (10% new). All wild ferment. The wine was matured on lees for 10 months, without malolactic fermentation proceeding, until bottling in February 2011.
The Result
This 2010 Yabby Lake Chardonnay has a lifted and fine nose, which is complex and beguiling. The palate is fine and tightly wound together with a precise mineral intensity. Great length and poise, the wine finishes with great purity. Stored carefully this wine will age gracefully for at least eight years. Awarded Three Trophies at the Royal Melbourne Wine Show 2012 - Best Chardonnay, Best Single Vineyard Wine, Best Victorian Table Wine.
